In May of 2009, the Wisconsin Food Security Consortium's very own Toni Rogers was awarded the Wisconsin Department of Health Services' 14 Carrot Gold Award, celebrating the promotion of increased fruit and vegetable consumption in Wisconsin.
According to the award website, "The 14 Carrot Gold Award recognizes excellence in the promotion of increased fruit and vegetable consumption in Wisconsin.
"The award is a joint effort of the Wisconsin WIC Program, the Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program and the Wisconsin Nutrition and Physical Activity Program."
It is with tremendous pride that the Wisconsin Food Security Consortium recognizes Toni's tireless work in the Onieda, Langlade and Iron county areas, as well as her continuous efforts in promoting nutrition, food security, and self sufficiency across Wisconsin.
During her time as the Wisconsin Nutrition Education Program coordinator in Langlade and Oneida counties, Toni was intrumental in creating a community garden in the city of Rhinelander that donates thousands of pounds of fresh produce directly to the Rhinelander Food Pantry. As the new Nutrition Education coordinator and Family Living educator for Iron County, Toni continues her work in these areas and is constantly providing the Consortium with valuable insight from northern Wisconsin.
Once again, congratulations, Toni!
